The business community is expanding its participation in the processes of interstate standardization

On July 3-14, 2022, Tashkent hosted the anniversary meeting of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The event is timed to the 30th anniversary of the CIS, celebrated this year.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the national bodies for standardization, metrology, conformity assessment and accreditation of the CIS member States, as well as representatives of the International Bureau of Legal Metrology (BIML/OIML), ISO, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the CIS Executive Committee and the Bureau for Standards of the MGS.

Among the main topics of the two–day meeting are the exchange of experience between the CIS member states on the work in the field of technical regulation, standardization and metrology carried out at the national level, the adoption, cancellation and restoration of interstate standards, the formation of new technical committees for standardization, updating the register of interstate reference materials.

The participants of the meeting exchanged up-to-date information on the work carried out in the CIS member states in the field of technical regulation, standardization, ensuring the uniformity of measurements, conformity assessment, accreditation and supervision.

An important stage in the development of the MGS was the signing of an agreement with the business communities of the CIS states – the Committee for Industrial Policy and Technical Regulation of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia, the Republican Association of Industrial Enterprises "BelAPP".

The cooperation Agreement between the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification and the RSPP Committee on Industrial Policy and Technical Regulation provides for:

  • cooperation in the development of priority areas of interstate standardization;

  • Implementation of MGS Programs for the development of interstate standards;

  • organization of interaction with the industry of the CIS countries to attract experts to the development of interstate standards;

  • implementation of the Programs of the Eurasian Economic Commission on the development of interstate standards for technical regulations;

  • interaction in the field of harmonization of interstate standards with the requirements of international, regional and foreign standards;

  • joint work on the implementation of interstate standards in the CIS countries;

  • exchange of information on the practical application of interstate standards and technical regulations;

  • organization and holding of joint conferences, seminars and other events.

According to the Deputy Co-Chairman of the Committee A.N.Lotsmanov, who signed the document on the part of the RSPP Committee, the entry into force of this Agreement will significantly expand the participation of the business community in the work of the MGS, will allow industry representatives to actively influence the development of interstate standardization processes.

Within the framework of the meeting, the awarding of laureates and diploma holders of the CIS Quality Award was also held.

The next meeting of the MGS is scheduled for December 2022.
