On May 15-16, 2024, the International Forum of Chambers of Commerce and Industry was held in Kazan as part of the XV International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum".

The event brought together more than 300 participants from Russia and foreign countries, including members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

One of the plenary discussions on the first day of the forum was devoted to the exchange of best practices of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. It was moderated by the head of the CCI Sergey Katyrin. In particular, he noted that "the idea of holding such an event belongs to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan, We saw that this is a useful and interesting format for our communication at the international forum with an emphasis on cooperation with the countries of the Islamic world. Every year we receive positive feedback from colleagues about the effectiveness of the discussions."

The forum program included thematic sessions on "The development of a closed-loop economy. Cooperation with the OIC countries", "Reaching a new level of development of manufacturing SMEs. Cooperation. Investment. Markets", "Family business as a brand of the national economy", "International commercial arbitration in the countries of the Islamic world".

Andrey Lotsmanov, Deputy Co-Chairman of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Committee on Industrial Policy and Technical Regulation, Chairman of the Council for Technical Regulation and Standardization under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, delivered a report at the session "Technical Regulation and Standardization in Priority sectors of the economy." He spoke about the role of technical regulation and standardization in ensuring the sustainable development of the Russian oil and gas industry.

Andrey Lotsmanov noted the long-term cooperation between the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in solving the most important issues in the field of technical regulation and standardization.

According to him, the most important event organized by the RSPP Committee is the Neftegazstandart International Conference, which was held for the 17th time last year. One of the main decisions of the conference in 2006 was the creation of the technical committee for standardization in the field of equipment, materials and technologies for oil and natural gas production. For 15 years, 372 national standards have been developed in TC 23 "Oil and Gas Industry". TC 23/MTK 23 has developed 115 interstate standards.

Also at the Neftegazstandart conference in 2007, in order to implement the "Concept for the Development of the National Standardization System", it was decided to ask the Government of the Russian Federation to develop a draft Federal law "On Standardization".  In 2015, No. 162-FZ "On Standardization in the Russian Federation" was adopted. As a result, the importance of standards has increased. The use of references to standards made it possible to quickly and effectively resolve security issues. Today, more than 400 regulatory legal acts contain references to more than 2,000 standards. Standards have become in demand in public procurement. The development of national standardization has become the basis for the implementation of the import substitution and export increase program.

In his speech, Andrey Lotsmanov also emphasized the important role of standardization in the development of the Russian pipe industry, noting the effective operation of TC 357 "Steel and cast iron pipes and cylinders."

Andrey Lotsmanov invited the participants of the session to take part in the XVIII International Conference "Neftegazstandart-2024", which will be held on November 20-22 in Samara.
